Coronavirus Vegas Style

So it seems like the coronavirus is getting pretty serious (or else I am reading too much social media, but with the reach of reddit, we get real-time, "boots on the ground" updates from people who are actually quarantined for two weeks or more whether they are in Italy or on a cruise ship...scary stuff!).  Here's what's happening in Vegas...

Meanwhile hubby and I are fine and while I worry more about him getting the virus because he is in a high risk group, so far he won't give up his bowling leagues or poker playing.  And while I would be perfectly fine being quarantined to home for a couple of weeks, I think he would go stir crazy!

  1. Shockingly, hand sanitizers were on sale at Publix. I suppose the reason is what you said. Wm had no more tp, paper towels, hand sanitizers, or bleach. Shelves were bare. I am a confirmed hand wipe and sanitizer person now. Oh, wipes were plentiful and on sale, too. I got B1G1, so cheap.

  2. I'm going to take a guess and say the WSOP will be cancelled. And if it's not, please take extreme care! I don't even want to touch money anymore. I'm readying myself for being home for probably up to a month, if home confinement/social distancing is declared. School is over at the end of May, but in actuality, there are only 44 school days left. I'm really hoping they shut everything down, but as of yet there are no cases in AL (that we know of). I have about 15 sick days accrued plus about 11 sick bank days if needed. Stay safe!

    1. I'm guessing all of Las Vegas will end up being shut down. They cancelled March Madness today which is HUGE and even Disneyland! I would be perfectly happy being quarantined to home but hubby would go stir crazy. I hope they close your schools so you and your hubby can stay safe at home!

  3. Seeing the WSOP first hand ( a very long time ago I dated a poker player who was in it - about 20 years ago) they likely will go ahead but maybe will prevent crowds from gathering. That would be smart in my opinion, or maybe do it behind closed doors with closed circuit for tv only. Everyone in the world will be effected by this in some way or another, financially or healthwise. Closing buffets is smart in my opinion, better to just have a cook make on demand food - the less hands the better in your supper.

    1. Yep tens of thousands of people in a densely packed convention center sounds really bad at this point. Las Vegas is trying to stay open and relevant but this will just ensure the virus gets passed around to more people. You are right, everyone in the world will be effected by this...scary stuff!
