The Covid Dilemma

We seem to be in an unending holding pattern.  First the bars opened up, then they shut down when our covid numbers started to spike.  The casinos are still open but there are always rumors they will close as well.  Our unemployment department was sued for not paying people (myself included), but so far the judge keeps giving them more and more time to get their act together (it's been a couple months since the lawsuit started and yesterday the judge once again said to give them a couple more weeks before he makes a decision).  Our schools were going to stay online for the upcoming year then they were going to partially open for a couple days a week now it looks like they will stay closed and all school will be done online.  Hubby's weekly bowling was going along then one of the members (no names were given so we don't even know if it was someone hubby bowled with) came down with covid so no more bowling.  I guess this will be the way of things for a while longer...

On another note, the SIL is coming to visit tomorrow with her friends (in the middle of a pandemic...eeekkk) and the guy who lives down the street murdered his girlfriend last week (he is some actor I've never heard of).  At least it is monsoon season so we will get a break from the 110 degree weather and hopefully some summer storms...

  1. The sil is coming to your house or to Las Vegas? I would be nervous. I required my cousin and his wife to wear a mask.

    1. Yep, thankfully she is staying at a hotel for the duration of her stay for some sort of bingo tournament. I just don't want hubby to catch anything!

  2. So sorry to hear covid is still bad in your state. I am in New York, the Finger Lakes area, and knock wood, we are doing pretty good. Some people whine that Governor Cuomo is being a dictator, but I say better to wear a mask and follow a few rules than to be sick or dead.
    Stay healthy.

    1. You live in such a pretty place! We hope our state can come out of this like New York did...hopefully sooner rather than later!

  3. It's been such a hard time of uncertainty. My middle school age son was supposed to start in small groups for two weeks & at least meet the teachers & pick up materials. That's been cancelled. My high school son is kicking off high school fully online, which is going to be an incredibly difficult transition. I worry about their education (and all of that online screen time), but understand the concerns driving this. It doesn't make it any easier, of course.

    1. My grandson was so excited to start college complete with the away-from-family dorm experience, now he gets to stay home with the family and start school online which is a bummer for him. Parents sure are having a hard time with the closure, trying to keep themselves working AND their kids educated at the same time!

  4. We live in Florida, a virus hotspot! The schools are required to be open five days a week for face to face instruction. The school are offering other options as well. My daughter is sending her kiddos back to school for face to face instruction. If it sucks she will pull them and they will do virtual.
