...but there may be food shortages. This is how our 99 Cent Store looked today. I can understand the lack of chips and soda because yesterday was a holiday so people probably stocked up for their parties but every aisle of the store looked like this. We went to a couple other stores and the people that worked there looked haggard, there was stock piled everywhere (but not put on shelves), prices continue to go up, and inventory looked sparse. Yikes!
The severe shortages may be here soon. But, right now, some stores look almost that bad and others look fully stocked. It may be that those stores just spread out existing stock.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Our Walmarts always look poorly stocked, Costco always looks really well stocked although I think they move stuff around to fill in blank spaces like when they were out of baby formula you couldn't tell because the formula section was filled with other stuff.
DeleteDo you think it's like that because people are looking for cheaper prices and the 99 Cent Store has them? I know here in Canada our " Dollar Store" is $1.25 now .
ReplyDeleteI think that's part of it--lots more people trying to shop as cheaply as possible. Also our Dollar Tree is now $1.25 and the 99 Cent store has prices starting at $1.00 and goes up from there kind of like what happened with Dollar General.
DeleteI'm thinking it was more to do with the holiday weekend. We are not seeing that where I am, at least not yet anyway. Our dollar store is packed and they are putting out school supplies already.
ReplyDeleteI definitely hope this is an anomaly. Some sources are raving about food shortages, others don't. Some rave about the entire Colorado River drying up and others are saying it isn't going to happen....I'm so confused!
