Hubby and I were out and about today and happened by a St Vincent de Paul thrift shop that we had never been to before so we decided to stop in and check it out. The prices were a bit higher than the Goodwill, the store was huge, the variety of things for sale was amazing, and the photo ops were everywhere...
And today's tip: Do something nice for people when you can. Hubby and I were at an Indian Restaurant today and remembering Lori's blog post from a while back, I decided to pay for lunch for a table of cops who were seated next to us. I was hoping to leave before their bill came and just let the waiter tell them after we left but the waiter told them when we were still there and they all came over to our table and said how much they appreciated what we did for them. The sergeant said people rarely did nice things for police officers and we said we appreciate the difficult job they have to do (especially in our city!). He said they all worked in the special victims unit which means they really do see the worst of the worst! It was a really nice feeling to do a random good deed for others and I will definitely be doing something like this again!

Thrift stores are great places to find costumes or the makings of Halloween costumes.
ReplyDeleteThey sure are. I've even seen really showgirl costumes at our Goodwill stores in Las Vegas!
DeleteThat is awesome!! It really does feel so good to be on the giving and the receiving end of random kindness. I know you made their day. Life is so messy right now I think we all need to share the love a bit more. It really is the little things that make a big difference. Have a great Friday!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for blogging about this, it wouldn't have even crossed my mind before but it is a nice thing to do for people!
