- National Finals Rodeo is in town and there are cowboys everywhere!
- Work is busy but should slow down in a week or so. More than a dozen people that I work with are retiring and several have been laid off so the number of bounce-back emails has been startling.
- It's Christmas decor season everywhere (but it is still hard to get in the Christmas spirit when it is sunny and 65 degrees here!). OTOH, I'll take this weather over the weather in New England our family deals with each winter...no more snow blowing or snow shoveling for us!
- We are getting ready for our Hawaii cruise which should be a fun way to spend Christmas.
- The price of food (and everything else) is insane!

A Quick Catch-Up

We are using Wartime rationing recipes designed to eke out the very limited amount of fresh meat which was available in Britain. My budget for meat is £5 a week, which will buy a medium sized chicken. A 100g of mince will make a dinner for two with lentils, onions, and plenty of vegetables.
ReplyDeleteI definitely learned the same skills from my grandmother who lived through the Great Depression and WW2 rationing. This coming year we really want to cut our meat budget down as well.
DeleteI need to get caught up on your blog again- always enjoyed it... the days just seem to fly by. Interesting to see the cost of your beef is just as high in the USA as here in Canada
ReplyDeleteThanks! For two countries with cows all over the place, the price of beef is outrageous!
