Rosemary?

There are a few rosemary shrubs growing in my yard.  They make for sturdy, fragrant ornamentals but I have never used it for cooking and instead buy rosemary from the grocery store, apparently there is a lot of nuance when deciding to consume such shrubs?

And for today's useful tip...for less than $5 at the Dollar Tree, you can make a pretty good dinner for two or more people...

  • 1 package or tortillas + 1 can of refried beans + 1 jar of salsa = some really good quesadillas
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes + 1 can of mixed vegetables + a grain (rice, lentils, etc) = a tasty soup
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes + 1 can of kidney beans + rice + canned diced chili peppers = yummy red beans and rice
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes + 1 can kidney beans + 1 can black beans + salsa = chili (add tomatoes, kidney beans, and salsa to a pot then blend undrained black beans and add this to the pot and heat)
  • 1 box mashed potatoes + 1 can gravy + canned meat/vegetables = a meaty/vegie gravy over potatoes
  • 1 can tuna + egg noodles + cream of mushroom soup = tuna casserole
These are just a few examples and while you don't want to eat like this everyday (generally way too much sodium plus you need fresh vegetables), these are quick, cheap ways to make a filling meal.  For lots more ideas, check out Dollar Tree meals on YouTube.
